Senior Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt Jr. passed away on October 27, 2013, and his funeral was held at the Cramston Auditorium at Howard University in Washington, DC on November 6, 2013.

Aservice to remember the life and ministry of Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt is planned in Hartford.

The memorial service will be held at Phillips Metropolitan CME Church, 2500 North Main Street, Hartford, on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 6:00pm.

The Rev. Dr. Arthur Green, Pastor at Phillips Metropolitan CME Church, is coordinating the memorial service.

Bishop Hoyt wasthe esteemed founder of Hartford Seminary’s Black Ministries Program and a Seminary professor for 14 years, from 1980 to 1994.The Black Ministries Program is a national model for building the leadership, training and preaching skills of laity and clergy in the urban church. Since its founding in 1982, BMP has prepared more than 1,000 men and women for effective service.
