Seminary Student Speaks at United Nations

Master of Arts student Gugun Gumilar spoke on Aug. 19, 2014, at the International Young Leader Assembly on “Moral and Innovative Leadership in the 21st Century.” Three hundred young leaders from 80 countries attended the event, held at United Nations headquarters in New York.

In part, Gugun told the assembly: “In the 21 century, where the new Emerging Global World offers the world’s people a unique opportunity to share and learn on their common destiny, at a moment when young leaders find themselves interconnected. In today’s world, leaders, stakeholders, individuals interact directly across the frontiers more often. Also, the technologies  create big opportunities for mutual understanding and common action. I encourage young leaders to get the best out of globalization and modern technologies. Young leaders must learn to govern better with emphasis on good governance, transparency, strengthening of civil society, and how to govern better together. Young leaders  are looking to the ideas of the leaders to identify and act on the challenges ahead in the 21st century.”
