Sharing the Well: A Resource Guide for Jewish-Muslim Engagement is a project of The Jewish Theological Seminary, Hartford Seminary, and The Islamic Society of North America edited by Kim Zeitman and Dr. Mohamed Elsanousi.

Sharing the Well is designed to assist and enhance Jewish-Muslim interactions at the community level. It includes a guide to dialogue; 18 articles by Jewish and Muslim leaders on topics such as caring for others, family and heritage, and religious life; questions for discussion; a sampling of 24 successful Jewish-Muslim engagement programs from across America; and a glossary of Jewish and Muslim terms. The book is available in hard copy  and as a free PDF. It is also available on the Islamic Society of North America and Jewish Theological Seminary websites.

At the conclusion of the joint project, Hartford Seminary, JTS, and the Islamic Society of North America celebrate a total of three academic workshops (2010, 2011, 2012); four community-based pilot projects in the Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia areas (which took place in 2013–2014); the publication of a special issue of the academic journal The Muslim World (v. 104, n. 4, October, 2014) on “Judaism and Islam in America”; and the publication of this special volume, Sharing the Well, which is a direct outgrowth of the interreligious partnerships that we’ve forged. Hartford Seminary and the cosponsors of this project are grateful for lead support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, which made the workshops, pilot projects, and this book (and its free distribution as a PDF) possible.
