Convocation Ushers in Hartford Seminary’s 182nd Year

Hartford Seminary students, faculty, alumni, staff and trustees gathered on Wednesday, Sept. 9, for Convocation, marking the beginning of the Seminary’s 182nd year.

The event featured an introduction by Academic Dean Uriah Kim, who welcomed all the different groups back for the start of the academic year. He particularly welcomed the new students, who hail from many different countries and parts of the United States.

“Trust God that you are in the right place at the right time,” he said.

He then turned over the ceremony to Prof. M.T. Winter, whose theme was “A Celebration of Creation.” She asked that the gathering “to remember that we are all part of creation.”

Wisdom from Jewish, Muslim and Christian traditions was delivered by Profs. Yehezkel Landau, Feryal Salem and Benjamin Watts.
