The lobby at Hartford Seminary is once again the repository for toys and gifts as the Where Love Is Christmas Gift-Giving Ministry to Children in Need takes shape for 2015.

Please join Prof. MT Winter and the Rev. Gail Williams in their efforts to bring gifts to children who fall through the cracks of our social service systems. Last year, approximately 1,600 children benefited from this initiative.

The Gift-Giving Ministry began years ago with a program to give gifts to children whose mothers were incarcerated in the women’s prison in Niantic. When that ended with the retirement of Chaplain Laurie Etter, the ministry found a new purpose in providing gifts for needy children in the Greater Hartford area. Social workers are able to come to Hartford Seminary and “shop” for toys that fit the needs of their specific clients.

There are two ways to help before the toys are distributed on December 15. Bring new toys or gifts (teenagers included) to Hartford Seminary, or make a tax-deductible donation payable to Medical Mission Sisters and sent to:
