Trustee Jim Robertson Is Now a Minister/Lawyer

Hartford Seminary Trustee James K. Robertson Jr. was ordained and installed on Sunday, Oct. 30, as a minister at the First Congregational Church in Watertown, the same church were he was baptized.

The Rev. Robertson won’t be giving up his day job, but will juggle his career as a trial lawyer with that of a part-time minister. His journey to ministry started, he said during the service, with an inspirational class he took at Hartford Seminary with Prof. MT Winter. He also studied at Yale Divinity School.

The service on Sunday included representatives from a variety of faith traditions, including a Catholic priest, a rabbi, and fellow Trustee Reza Mansoor, who gave a Prayer of Dedication. Prof. Winter attended as well and participated in the laying of the hands.

Others at the service with long connections to Hartford Seminary included the Rev. Davida Foy Crabtree, who gave the sermon, and the Rev. Dr. William Zito, pastor emeritus of First Congregational Church.
