A South Windsor, CT-based company has been giving free websites to churches without them, according to a recent article put out by the Religion News Service called Bridging the Digital Divide, Company Gives Churches Free Websites.
Grace Church Websites allows churches to create a free website. The service was started by TicketNetwork executive Don Vaccaro to address a need he discovered when speaking to friends in ministry.
“Smaller churches, including minority ones, are less likely to use and/or have technology,” Prof. Scott Thumma says in the article. “So a company that targets smaller churches and especially minority ones is really doing a great service for those that need it the most.”
The article also cites the Hartford Institute of Religion Research’s 2015 Faith Communities Today survey, which found that about 80 percent of 4,400 congregations surveyed have websites, a 10 percentage-point increase from 2010.
