Academic Dean Scott Thumma led a contingent of 11 Hartford Seminary students and alumni to participate in a dialogue at Shinnyo-en NY Temple in White Plains, N.Y., on Saturday.
The Interfaith Small Group Dialogue was jointly organized by Shinnyo-en Youth Association, Shinnyo-en Order and Shinnyo-en Foundation.
Muslim, Christian and Jewish participants from Hartford Seminary shared their faith traditions and experiences with a group of 60 or 70 Buddhist youth, helping them to learn more about other traditions.
Shinnyo-en organizers said it was the first time some of the young participants were able to engage in interfaith conversation. The dialogue ended with hope for a more peaceful world and a commitment to continued dialogue.
