Update on the Presidential Search

TO:  Members of the Hartford Seminary Community

FROM:  Jim Robertson, Chair, Presidential Search Committee

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to report the search for Hartford’s president has advanced to the next stage.  The Search Committee spent two days this past week interviewing six outstanding candidates for Hartford’s presidency.  We are very pleased to let you know that three were selected as finalists for further consideration from this strong pool.  Each of these candidates brings a wealth of talent and experience to us.  We are anxious to get to know them even better in the next few weeks and learn more of their accomplishments.  All three candidates are equally excited to learn more about Hartford Seminary.

I indicated to you earlier that the process for the last phase of the search process would involve the Hartford Seminary community.  We see broader campus participation as vital to both determining the candidate that best fits Hartford’s leadership needs and to excite these top candidates about the Seminary.  Each candidate will be on campus for approximately a day and a half from January 28-31.  Please watch for details on the specific dates and times when you will have the opportunity to meet these candidates.  An electronic feedback form also will be provided so you might anonymously, if you wish, share your reactions to each candidate you meet with the search committee.

I will be in communication with you again very shortly as this final stage of the search develops.  Our target to announce the next president, assuming all continues to go well, remains during the month of February.

I look forward to bringing you further good news in the near future.
