On Monday, March 5, Hartford Seminary welcomed a group of Indonesian scholars and administrators who are interested in creating a new university in Indonesia based on a moderate interpretation of Islam.
The group’s trip was organized by WorldBoston, a world affairs council that works with the Department of State “to administer professional programs for rising leaders from around the world.”
The delegation of nine was on a mission to learn about research standards, possible exchanges, building support for a new institution, developing research partnerships, and promoting the International University for Islamic Studies in Indonesia (IIIU).
The group met with President Heidi Hadsell, faculty members and students, and took a tour of Hartford Seminary.
