Lecture Focuses on Imamology in Twelver Shi’ite Islamic Thought

Hadi Qazwini, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Southern California, gave a lecture on Imamology in Twelver Shi’ite Thought on April 5, 2018, the next in our series sponsored by the Imam Ali Chair for the Study of Shi’i Islam and Dialogue Among Islamic Legal Schools.

Qazwini, who has educated audiences around the world on topics related to Islam, gave an overview of the special nature and status of the Imam within Twelver Shi-ite Islam. Imamology, he said, is linked to both Divine Grace and Prophetology.

Among Twelver Shi’ites, he said, the imams who succeeded the Prophet Muhammad are believed to be inerrant and able to provide divine guidance.
