President Joel N. Lohr to Give MLK Day Invocation at Capitol

The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission has invited President Joel N. Lohr to give the invocation at its annual Commemorative Liberty Bell Ringing Ceremony and Awards Program at the State Capitol at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 20.

Governors across the country will ring the Liberty Bell “in honor of Dr. King’s tireless work of promoting freedom for all people.” The commission will also recognize three honorees for leadership, community service, and humanitarianism.

Also Monday, Faith Congregational Church in Hartford has invited one of our International Peacemaking Program students, Njehntengazoka Danladi of Nigeria, to give a presentation during its Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 20, which begins at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Kari Nicewander of Immanel UCC and a large combined chorus from several area churches are also part of the program.

Other MLK Day events in the area can be found on this link.
