Between May 26 and 29, Professor Najib George Awad participated virtually in the online conference “Communities and the Individual: Beyond the Liberal-Communitarian Divide” organized by Da’Foscari University, Venice, Italy.

Professor Awad read a paper titled, “Democracy without Democrats, Identity-Formation and Religions: the Challenge of Crosspollinating Self-Perception in the Post-Arab Spring Context.” The conference gathered some of the most renowned scholars of Middle Eastern studies and political scientists in USA and Europe.
