Christmas Gift-Giving Ministry is Back at Hartford Seminary

By Caye Banks

As we get used to the new restrictions the pandemic has given us, the annual Where Love Is Christmas Gift-Giving Ministry to Children in Need is back in a new way.

Last year, Dr. Miriam Therese Winter and the Rev. Gail Williams, MA ’16, collected more than 2,100 gifts in the effort to bring joy to children who fall through the cracks of our social service systems.

This year, send Hartford Seminary a check and let us purchase a gift or two in your name. You can also call us for a scheduled time to deliver your gifts to our seasonal “Santa’s Gift Shop” at 76 Sherman Street. Please help us bring Christmas to children during this challenging time.

The Gift-Giving Ministry began years ago with a program to give gifts to children whose mothers were incarcerated in the women’s prison in Niantic. When that program ended, the ministry found a new purpose in providing gifts for needy children in the Greater Hartford area. Social workers are able to come to Hartford Seminary and “shop” for toys that fit the needs of their specific clients. Volunteers also make and fill hundreds of Christmas stockings.

One hundred percent of your donation will go to the Where Love Is Christmas Gift-Giving Ministry to Children in Need.
