Dr. Hans Harmakaputra Writes Article on Pope Francis’ Fratelli Tutti

Hans Harmakaputra, Visiting Assistant Professor in Comparative Theology and Muslim-Christian Relations, has an article published in the Journal of Social Encounters.

This interdisciplinary peace and justice studies journal is published online by the Center for Social Justice and Ethics at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, in collaboration with the Peace Studies Department at College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota.

Dr. Harmakaputra is one of several authors in this issue reflecting on Pope Francis’ latest encyclical letter, Fratelli Tutti.

His article, Fratelli Tutti and Interreligious Friendship: An Indonesian Christian Reflection, talks about the unusual nature of Pope Francis’ call for interreligious friendship. Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis said, was in part inspired by this friendship with Grand Imam Ahmad Al-Tayyeb of Al-Azhar, Egypt.

Congrats, Hans!
