Clare R. Feldman Named Chair of Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of Hartford Seminary named Clare R. Feldman as its new Chair at the Annual Meeting of the Board on May 20, 2021.

Feldman was appointed to the Board in 2016 and has served on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Governance and Personnel Committees. She is also a member of the Development Committee.

Her professional career included serving as a Senior Vice President, Citizens Bank, Connecticut. She also held senior level management positions in several other Connecticut banks. She has extensive experience as a volunteer for non-profits, including serving as President of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford, CT; President of the Aurora Foundation for Women and Girls; and President of Combined Health Appeal.

A former resident of West Hartford, Clare and her husband Barry now live in Delray Beach, FL.

The outgoing Board Chair, James K. Robertson Jr., will stay on as Board Emeritus. President Joel N. Lohr thanked him for leading the board during a time of significant change, including planning for and implementing a new Strategic Plan and managing through a worldwide pandemic.

“I’ve learned a lot from Jim in terms of governance,” President Lohr said. “We are incredibly fortunate that you have served for three years and brought us to this place.”

A former Trustee, Gertrude “Trudie” J. Prior, will also rejoin the board.
